The MICS Program Committee invites you to contribute to the MICS 2018 program in one of the following ways:

Papers

To present a paper, you should submit a 300-500 word abstract by February 9th, 2018. Upon acceptance of the abstract, you must submit a full paper by March 16th, 2018. Abstracts must provide sufficient details to judge the submission. Student papers are strongly encouraged, and cash awards will be given for the best undergraduate and graduate student papers. A paper is considered a “student” paper if a full-time student is the primary author and presents the paper. Faculty or other students may be listed as secondary authors. Conference registration is required for acceptance and publication of any paper.

Poster/Software Demonstration

To present a poster session or perform a software demonstration, submit a 300-500 word abstract by February 9th, 2018, and a 2-3 page abstract for inclusion in the Proceedings by March 16th, 2018. Demonstrations can be stand-alone or as follow-ups to previous presentations.

Panel Discussions

Panel discussions provide different points of view and facilitate discussion on contemporary topics. To host a panel discussion, submit a 300-500 word abstract by February 9th, 2018 describing the topic and proposed panel members. Moderators for accepted panels should submit a 2-3 page document providing short position statements from all panelists. Panel members are not necessarily expected to make formal presentations, but instead to facilitate discussion of the topic.

Nifty Assignments

Nifty Assignments provides a forum for sharing ideas and materials for interesting and provocative classroom assignments. Potential authors should submit a 300-500 word abstract by February 9th, 2018 that describes the assignment, and specifies the target course and underlying pedagogical concepts that the assignment addresses. Successful authors will be expected to submit a paper by March 16th, 2018, and provide a 20-minute conference presentation that describes the assignment and provides ready-to-use course materials.

Submissions

All prospective authors submit an abstract describing their research topic. All abstracts and submitted papers undergo thorough reviews by members of the program committee. Instructions for submitting abstracts are available on the Submissions page.

Acceptance Notification

Authors of accepted submission(s) will be notified via email by February 16th, 2018. To check the status of your submission, you can go directly to the MICS 2018 EasyChair site.
